Andrew John Hozier-Byrne or better known as Hozier is an Irish musician that draws his signature sound form folk, soul, blues and is also often using religious and literary themes. He wrote his debut album in 2013 in between playing open mic nights in Dublin. It went on t become a radio hit and peaked at number two on the billboard hot 100. 

The music video for Take Me to Church was released a month after the song was released and was created on a shoestrings budget as well as being filmed completely in black and white. This song was certified multi-platinum in several different countries and the song went viral all over the world!

He started his music journey off young by writing songs and teaching himself how to play guitar at the age of 15. He went on to play at the ‘Oxygen 2009’ and the ‘Oxygen 2010” festivals and in 2012 he was a backup singer for Billy Ocean. He then released his hit song in 2013, and it was all shooting for the stars thereafter. 

In 2014 Hozier then released the album “Hozier” which critics stated that it was ‘an intense, youthful, lyrical tangling of religion and romantic obsession that regularly finds him poised between love and abuse” which shows how intricate his songwriting is and how much emotion he puts into each and every word. 

Hozier has many accolades under his belt, one of which is performing “Take Me to Church” at the 2019 Victoria secret Fashion show. In 2019 he went on to release his second album “Wasteland Baby!” which was centred around his interpretation of the apocalypse whilst on the search for romance and redemption. Unreal Earth” was released in late 2023 and this album shows Hozier’s relationship with the Irish language. Not long after this he released Unheard” which features songs like “Too Sweet” which have gone viral.
